Northwest Branch cleanup success
This past Saturday, almost 30 volunteers came together at Northwest Branch to participate in a cleanup hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Climbers. Although I was out in Boulder attending the Adventure Film Festival (more on that later), I was happy to hear that they were able to collect a huge amount of trash and perform some much needed trail maintenance at one of my favorite bouldering spots. And as I mentioned in an earlier post, this kind of work not only benefits us by letting us climb in a more pleasant environment, but also sends the message to both land owners and other user groups that we as climbers can have a positive impact on the areas we visit.
Here's a great time-lapse video of the NWB cleanup, put together by Mark 'Indy' Kochte. And for anyone interested in getting involved, there will be another Adopt-a-Crag at the Ilchester crag on Saturday, November 19th, with check-in starting at 8:45 a.m. You might not find any mattresses, lawn mowers, or car doors like we did last time, but who knows what other hidden treasures await?
